# Claude for Business Review: Team and Enterprise Plans in 2026

**Verdict:** Claude Team and Enterprise are a strong choice for business teams whose work is writing, analysis and repeatable document workflows, especially teams that live in Excel, Word and PowerPoint or want an agent that can work across their files. Skip it if your company already pays for Microsoft 365 Copilot or Google Workspace with Gemini and people only need AI inside those apps, or if nobody will own connector setup and training.

Clustr trains business teams on several AI assistants, including this one; this review reflects what we see work in those programs.

## What is Claude for business and what does it cost?

Anthropic sells Claude to companies through two plans, Team and Enterprise. Team covers 2 to 150 users and lets you mix standard and premium seats. Enterprise adds the compliance and identity controls larger organizations ask for. Prices below are as of October 2026 from the [Claude pricing page](https://claude.com/pricing).

| Plan | Price (as of Oct 2026) | Who it fits | Notable extras |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Team, standard seat | $20/seat/month billed annually, $25 monthly | Teams of 2 to 150 | Projects, Skills, connectors, Claude Code, Cowork |
| Team, premium seat | $100/seat/month billed annually, $125 monthly | Heavy daily users | 5x the usage of a standard seat |
| Enterprise | $20/seat/month billed annually, 20-seat minimum, usage billed separately at API rates | Larger or regulated organizations | SCIM, audit logs, Compliance API, custom retention, spend limits |

Both business plans include SSO, admin controls for remote and local connectors, Claude for Microsoft 365 and Outlook, and a context window of up to 1M tokens depending on the model, per the [pricing page](https://claude.com/pricing). Enterprise adds role-based access, SCIM, audit logs, a Compliance API, custom data retention and admin-set spend limits for users and the whole organization. Usage limits apply on every plan, and the page does not spell them out in full.

### What you actually get day to day

- **Projects:** shared workspaces where a team keeps instructions and reference files so Claude starts every chat with the right context.
- **Skills:** packaged procedures and company knowledge that Claude applies automatically, so a task gets done the same way each time. Anthropic describes them on its [Skills page](https://claude.com/skills).
- **Connectors:** links to the tools where your data lives, with admin control over which ones are allowed.
- **Claude Cowork:** Anthropic's agent for non-coding knowledge work. You describe the outcome and it works through the steps across your files and tools. It runs on web and mobile, and the desktop app adds access to local folders and applications, per the [Cowork page](https://claude.com/product/cowork). Computer use is labeled a research preview.
- **Office add-ins:** Claude for Excel, PowerPoint and Word are generally available on all paid plans, and Claude for Outlook is in beta, per the [Claude for Excel page](https://claude.com/claude-for-excel).
- **Claude Code:** included on Team for staff who write or maintain code.

## Where is Claude strong?

**Long documents and careful writing.** Claude handles contracts, policies, proposals and research packs well, and the large context window means people can work with whole documents instead of pasting fragments. In our programs this is usually where first wins come from.

**Spreadsheets without breaking them.** The Excel add-in lets people ask about any cell, change assumptions and build models from inside the workbook, per [Anthropic](https://claude.com/claude-for-excel). For finance and operations staff, this is often more useful than a chat window because the work stays in the file they already use. We saw this with a [small bookkeeping firm](/case-studies/bookkeeping-firm-claude-workflows) we coached one on one, from first login to workflows in Excel, QuickBooks reporting and Outlook.

**Consistency through Skills and Projects.** Teams that write down how a task should be done, then package it as a Skill or a Project, get results that look the same across people. That matters for client-facing work like proposals, reports and briefings.

**Agents that finish multi-step work.** Cowork moves Claude from answering questions to completing tasks across files and tools. For business users this is the most approachable way to start with AI agents without building anything.

**Flexible seat mix.** Team lets you buy premium seats only for the people who use Claude heavily, instead of paying the top rate for everyone.

## Where does Claude fall short?

- **Your data does not come built in.** Claude reaches company information through connectors that someone has to set up and govern. Microsoft 365 Copilot and Gemini in Workspace start inside your email and files by default. If no one owns connectors, people end up uploading files by hand.
- **Usage limits are real.** Heavy users hit limits on standard seats, and premium seats cost five times as much. Plan seat types by role rather than guessing.
- **Enterprise billing is less predictable.** Enterprise usage is billed separately at API rates on top of the seat fee, so finance teams need a forecast and spend limits from day one.
- **Some pieces are still early.** Claude for Outlook is in beta and computer use is a research preview. Train on the generally available features first.
- **Team stops at 150 users.** Above that, you move to Enterprise and its 20-seat minimum and usage billing.
- **It changes fast.** New features ship often, so internal guides and training material go stale within months unless someone owns them.

## Who should buy Claude?

- **Buy it** if your teams do a lot of writing, analysis, research or spreadsheet work and you want consistent outputs through shared Projects and Skills.
- **Buy it** if you want business users to try AI agents through Cowork without a separate agent platform.
- **Buy it** as a second tool alongside Microsoft 365 Copilot or Google Workspace for specific roles, such as finance, legal, proposals or research, where it does the job better for your team.
- **Skip it** if your only goal is AI inside Outlook, Teams or Gmail and you already pay for that elsewhere.
- **Skip it** if you cannot name an owner for connectors, Skills and training. Without that, seats go unused.

## How to roll it out so people use it

Buying seats is the easy part. Most stalled rollouts we see have the same cause: people get a login and a short demo, try a few prompts, and go back to how they worked before. Our [guide to why AI rollouts stall](/blog/why-ai-rollouts-stall) covers the pattern. For Claude specifically, this order works well:

1. Pick three real workflows per team, such as a monthly report, a proposal draft and a meeting follow-up, and build them as Projects first.
2. Turn the best of those into Skills so the whole team gets the same result, not just the person who wrote the prompt.
3. Train finance and operations staff in the Excel add-in inside their own workbooks, not on sample data.
4. Introduce Cowork once people trust Claude on single tasks, starting with low-risk, multi-step work.
5. Name champions in each team who maintain the Projects and Skills and help colleagues.
6. Measure use and outcomes at 30, 60 and 90 days, and retire workflows that are not used.

Clustr runs hands-on [Claude workshops](/claude-workshops) and longer [Claude training programs](/claude) built around your workflows, plus an [AI champions program](/ai-champions-program) to keep momentum after launch. If you want a baseline first, our [AI fluency assessment](/assessment) shows where each team starts, and [adoption measurement](/ai-adoption-measurement) shows whether the rollout is working.

## Common questions

### How much does Claude cost for a business team?

As of October 2026, Claude Team costs $20 per standard seat per month billed annually or $25 billed monthly, and $100 per premium seat billed annually or $125 monthly. Team covers 2 to 150 users. Enterprise is $20 per seat per month billed annually with a 20-seat minimum, plus usage billed separately at API rates. Check Anthropic's pricing page before you buy.

### What is the difference between Claude Team and Claude Enterprise?

Team is for groups of 2 to 150 and includes Projects, Skills, connectors, Claude Code, Cowork, SSO and connector admin controls. Enterprise includes all of that plus role-based access, SCIM, audit logs, a Compliance API, custom data retention and spend limits. Enterprise pricing combines a seat fee with usage billed at API rates, so it needs a usage forecast.

### Does Claude work inside Excel, Word and PowerPoint?

Yes. Anthropic says Claude for Excel, PowerPoint and Word are generally available on all paid Claude plans, and Claude for Outlook is in beta. In Excel you can ask about cells, change assumptions and build models inside the workbook. For most finance and operations teams, the Excel add-in is the best place to start training.

### What is Claude Cowork?

Cowork is Anthropic's agent for non-coding knowledge work. You describe the result you want and it works through the steps across your files and tools. It runs on web and mobile, and the desktop app adds access to local folders and applications. It is included in Team and Enterprise. We suggest introducing it after people are comfortable using Claude for single tasks.

### Should we buy Claude if we already have Microsoft 365 Copilot?

Often not for everyone. Many companies keep Copilot as the default inside Outlook and Teams and buy Claude seats for specific roles, such as finance, proposals, legal or research, where its writing, document analysis and Excel add-in fit the work. Pilot with a few teams, measure use and outcomes, then decide how far to expand.
